American Chemical Society National Meeting & Exposition Fall 2026
August 23 – 27, 2026
Chicago, IL, USA

The symposium will honor Professor Pedro Francisco Rodriguez-Espinosa, who is a Director and Professor of Center for Interdisciplinary Studies on Environment and Development (CIIEMAD), National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), Mexico City, Mexico. He is an internationally renowned expert in the field of hydrogeology. He is a Level II member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNI), Area I: Physics – Mathematics and Earth Sciences in the scientific community at National Level. He is also a member of the GeoEnvironmental and Water Quality Studies Group, and also as reviewer for leading JCR and SCImago journals. Dr. Rodríguez holds a PhD in Advanced Technology from IPN (2003, with Honors), a Master’s Degree in Marine Sciences (Geological Oceanography) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, both from National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Mexico City. With an academic career spanning three decades, he has directed externally funded research projects for federal, state and municipal institutions, particularly in groundwater assessment, environmental risk, water and river pollution, and territorial planning which have enabled him to supervise ten theses for Master’s and PhD Degrees. He has numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications in high-impact journals such a Chemosphere, Journal of Environmental Management, Marine Pollution Bulletin, Science of The Total Environment, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Hydrology, Wetlands Ecology and Management, and Journal of Ecological Engineering, which has allowed him to fundamentally impact public policies on government and environmental areas based on scientific data. He also actively collaborates in his academic activities as he teams up regularly with practitioners from the water sector in transdisciplinary projects nationally and internationally.

Topics:

The topics that would be covered in this symposium, but not limited to, are:

  • Hydrogeological/ Geochemical Processes.
  • Waste water treatment.
  • Water conservation.
  • Water desalination.
  • Water drought.
